Short-eared owl and wind speed:コミミズクと風速

Short-eared owl, one of the migratory birds, has come to the area where I live in as like last year again this year in late December.

It is said that short-eared owls do not take off for predatory behavior in the evening when the wind blows strong, but I tried using a wind speed meter to check, how much wind speed hinders predatory flight

The maximum wind speed at the site on December 25 was 5.5 m, which was about 3 m on average, but no predatory flight was observed.

On December 26, a predatory flight was observed after 3:30. The wind power around 3 o'clock on the same day had a maximum wind speed of 3 m and an average of about 1.5 m, and it became 0 m from around 3:50.The
