Kingfisher with lotus receptacle,Kawasmi to kataku 花托に止まるカワセミ

The time of full bloom of ancient lotus which is called Oogahasu has been over, and so many receptacles
came to be appeared after flowering.
That's why the juveniles of the kingfisher which came flying here stopped only to a receptacle more stable than the bud of the lotus.

Receptacle,  It said seeds are edible.

Butterfly dragonfly,Tyotonbo,チョウトンボ

This is second installment of a two-part of this topic of" Rhyothemis fuliginosa", Butterfly dragonfly.

I wanted to take some photo that a kingfisher perched on a lotus flower, and went to the park for several days.
But , it is already late at the time of the photo, as the time has passed.
I estimate that a receptacle is formed after the flowering of the lotus in sequence, and this is because the kingfisher came to stop to a stable receptacle, not to stop on a flower.
It is from 4:15 to 7:00 early in the morning in time that a kingfisher comes to this park and catches a small fish of the bait.
Because there was the day without the coming flying and found the Butterfly dragonfly which flew flutteringly, I would take this dragonfly for kill-time.

Little grebe with water lily、Kaitsuburi,カイツブリ

UCN Rred list category:Least Concern
This is the first installment of a two-part series of this topic.

Little grebe is a resident bird in Japan, except a part of Tohoku district, and Hokkaido, summer migrant bird in that area.
When it is May in a season, the nest building of the little grebe begins in the private  pond close to my house, which is plenty of water lilies flowering.
In Japan, you can watch everywhere about nesting of little grebe , such as pond, marsh, lake, river.
Though this flower is absolutely different to a lily, it is mysterious I take a water lily every year, and to think in a question why you are called a water lily.
Footnote: Installed whole images this time are taken by collimated system.

Lotus flower,Hasu no hana,ハスのハナ

This is the second installment of a two-part series of this topic.

 Rhyothemis fuliginosa
IUCN Rred list category:Least Concern

The appearance period is from June to September. The emergence begins in about the middle of June.
they are distributed over the Korean Peninsula, China and are distributed over Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu in Japan. They are seen mainly in the ponds and marshes which are full of vegetation from level ground to the hill country. Because they fly like a butterfly flutteringly, this Japanese name is on.
As well as Japan, a lot of close species exist.

Bull-headed shrike
IUCN Rred list category:Least Concern

The bull-headed shrike (Lanius bucephalus) is a passerine bird of eastern Asia belonging to the shrike family Laniidae.

It is 19–20 cm (approx. 7.48-7.9 inches) long. The male has a brown crown, white eyebrow and black mask. The back is grey-brown while the wings are dark with a white patch. The flanks are rufous and the rest of the underparts are whitish with fine barring. Females are similar but duller and browner with a brown mask and no white wing-patch. The species has harsh grating and chattering calls and will also mimic other birds.

It breeds in north-east China, Korea, Japan and far-eastern Russia (Ussuriland, Sakhalin and the Kuril Islands). Northern birds migrate south for the winter with a few reaching southern China. Vagrants have been recorded in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Vietnam. The isolated race sicarius is found only in the mountains of Gansu Province in west-central China.

Open habitats such as farmland and woodland edges are preferred. It also visits parks and gardens in urban areas. It sits on a prominent perch, waiting for prey to pass by. It feeds mainly on insects such as beetles and crickets but also preys on lizards and crustaceans.

With some other species from the Lanius genus, like the great grey shrike (Lanius excubitor), the bull-headed shrike is known to impale some of its preys upon a sharp point – usually thorns – so the food can be ripped into bite-sized pieces more easily.
The nest is built among bushes or bamboo. Two to six eggs are laid. They are incubated for 14 to 15 days and the young birds fledge 14 days after hatching. Quote from Wikipedia)

The Bull-headed shrike of this image is estimated with leaving the nest 40-50 days
later.
The kingfisher of this image is estimated to be leaving the nest around 40days.
The torus of the lotus is called a water shower head by another name in Japan.

This kingfisher is estimated to be adult male.
