One of the largest in Japan Satsuki festival of 2017,which is organized by the Japan Satsuki Association, was held at Ueno Imperial Park in Tokyo on May 24,it will be continue to May 29.

Speaking of Satsuki, We usually mention bonsai Satsuki, but in the case of simply saying azalea usually refers to bonsai azalea.

According to the pamphlet of Japan Satsuki Association,

Satsuki is one of the gardening plants cultivated and loved by many people since ancient times, as 161 varieties are listed in the gardening book "Kinsyuumakura " published during the Edo-Genroku era. Although the cultivation was banned by the policy of the shogunate, the popularity was restored at the end of the Meiji era, and several satsuki clubs were born from the Taisho era to the Showa era.

二回シリーズの第一回目のアップロードです。

 5月24日、東京の上野恩賜公園で日本サツキ協会主催の2017年の日本最大級のサツキ祭りが開催され、5月29日まで続きます。

さつきと言えば、盆栽さつきのことを言いますが、単にツツジと言う場合には通常盆栽ツツジ以外のことを言います。

日本皐月協会のパンフレットによれば、

さつきは江戸・元禄時代に発行された園芸書『錦繍枕』に161品種が記載されていますように、古くから多くの人に愛され栽培されてきた園芸植物の一つです。幕府の政策により栽培が禁止されたこともありましたが、明治末になると人気は復興し、大正時代から昭和時代にかけていくつかの愛好会が誕生しました。
