The Japanese sparrowhawk (Accipiter gularis) is a bird of prey in the family Accipitridae which also includes many other diurnal raptors such as eagles, buzzards and harriers.

In my observation here, the juvenile's feeding seemed to be mostly a sparrow their parents caught.

当地での私の観察では、幼鳥への給餌は主に親が捕らえた雀であるように見えました。

Did this male juvenile mistake a piece of wood as a fish or is it practice to take a small fish?

In the area where I live, you can see the fledged kingfisher's juveniles in some places when it in June.

私が住んでいる地域では、6月にもなると 巣立ちしたカワセミの幼鳥が所々で見受けられます。
