Japanese white-eye,Mejiro,メジロ

The Japanese white-eye (Zosterops japonicus), also known as the mejiro (メジロ, 目白), is a small passerine bird in the white-eye family.

This bird species is rarely found on the ground. It is a very sociable species that may form flocks with other species, in which the birds form groups to forage during flight; white-eyes only flock with birds of other species outside of the breeding season.[
The species is omnivorous, living on a diet of fruit from several species of flowering plants, various types of insects, and nectar at all levels of foliage. It feeds on insects by searching the leaves of flowers and scouring tree bark for larvae. (quote from Wikipedia)
According to the revised law for the summary of Wildlife protection and Hunting Management ,enacted in 1963,citizens can not keep birds and animals except where they received special permission. However, about ten years ago from now the poachers were arrested in a neighboring town where I live.
The Japanese white-eye has been bred in a bamboo bird cage among maniacs to appreciate the melodious voice from ancient times.
We called this banboo gage for bird "Sashiko".
