Traditional Antique Chrysantheum,Dentounokotengiku, 伝統の古典菊


The third installment of Traditional Antique Chrysantheum is Ousyugiku, Higogiku, and Tyoujigiku.

Ousyugiku,奥州菊

It is a strain of big chrysanthemums cultivated actively in the Oshu Hachinohe district since the end of the Edo period.




 
Higogiku,肥後菊
This chrysanthemum begins in Higo feudal lord having encouraged cultivation to as one of the culture policies in (1751-1764) in the Hoei era year.




 
Tyoujigiku,丁子菊
It was cultivated actively in the Edo period.

Traditional Antique Chrysantheum,Dentounokotengiku, 伝統の古典菊


The second installment of Traditional Antique Chrysantheum is Edgiku and Isegiku.
                                      
Edogiku
It was cultivated from the beginning of the Edo period, but the flower form inherited to the present day was established in the late Culture and Government period of the Edo period.




Isegiku
Isegiku is said to have been improved based on Saga Giku in the Edo period.

Traditional Antique Chrysantheum,Dentounokotengiku, 伝統の古典菊

of Japanese History, Sakura city Chiba prefecture.

Outline of Exhibition
The annual Traditional Antique Chrysantheum exhibition was held from November 25 to 27th at the Botanical Garden of Every Day Life of the National museum of Japanese History in Sakura City, Chiba Prefecture.

According to the two page summaries with the photograph of this Traditional Antique Chrysantheum is described as six kinds. And each of these six kinds of Traditional Antique Chrysantheum is divided into two kinds.

The Japanese have long thought of the sakura (cherry blossom) as the flower which symbolizes the nation.But, the chrysanthemum is another flower which,because of its use in the Imperial Crest,is considered to be symbolic of Japan.  
Speaking of chrysanthemums, The Chrysanthemum and the Sword this book has been published in 1946, but I have not read it, I only know the name of the book.


I will install six kind of  traditional antique chrysanthemum, the first time is Sagagiku.


Sagagiku,嵯峨菊
It is said that it was planted in the court in the days of Emperor Saga809-823 and appreciated side by side with tea ceremonies and poetry party.
