Exceptionally rare sight 非常にまれな光景

A picture of a peregrine falcon that I took on Thursday, 2018 won the third place in the contest of “Readers’ news photograph” by the Yomiuri Shinbun which is the largest newspaper publisher in Japan.

It was the moment when a Eurasian siskin stopped on the back of falcons. I thought it was one or two seconds.

2018年木曜日に撮ったハヤブサの写真が、日本最大の新聞社である読売新聞の「読者のニュース写真」コンテストで3位に入賞しました。

それはユーラシアのキスがファルコンの背中で止まった瞬間でした。 1秒か2秒だと思いました。

Weasel and Yokai,イタチと妖怪

Weasel has been seen as a kind of demon, since long ago in Japan as with a fox and a raccoon dog. I often encounter weasel at the field of my wild bird photos, but as it is said, it has with both fierceness and cute. There is a word of "yokai" which means similar to the word "a demon "since a long time ago in Japan, but "yokai" and "demon or ghost" is a bit different. About Yokai(Demon)

It has long been said in Japan that when one encounters a strange or peculiar phenomenon that yokai must be behind it. It is said that yokai not only punishes people for their laziness and selfishness but also teaches them to take good care of things and to respect nature and the environment. Also, there are a lot of words associated with a weasel in Japan, even in the English world, there seem to be two expressions of "Weasel word" and “Wild Weasel"

 イタチは、日本では古くからキツネ、タヌキと同様に妖怪視されてきた。

Northern goshawk,オオタカ

I have already installed on this blog many times about northern goshawk, but it is a

typical species of hawk in Japan. In Japan, from old-time to being now, speaking of hawks, it often refers to northern goshawk. In the Japan archipelago, it is distributed in the whole area except the Southwest and southern islands.

It did not almost come out of the woods until the 1980s,

Because of the protection activities of northern goshawk by humans, they became not afraid of humans and they have been come to entering the city.

In August 2017, the government has decided was made to cancel the law of "rare and wild animals" of the northern goshawk. (Quotes from Japanese description of the Wikipedia )
オオタカについては既にこのブログに何度もインストーしていますが、

オオタカは日本における鷹類の代表的な種です。日本では、古今、タカといえば、オオタカを指すことが多い。

日本列島では南西・南方諸島を除く全域に分布する。日本では、1980年代までめったなことでは森から出てこなかったが、野鳥の保護により人を怖がらなくなり街中に進出している。2017年8月には、「希少野生動植物」の解除が決定された。

It breeds in the northern part of Eurasia Continent, North America Continent, and overwinter in the southern part of Europe, Africa, Middle East, India, Southeast Asia, North America Continent in winter. In Japan, it passes over as a passage migrant bird on the way to the spring and autumn, or it migrates as a winter bird for wintering to the south of the central Honshu．(quote from Wikipedia Japanese)

ユーラシア大陸北部、北アメリカ大陸北部で繁殖し、冬季はヨーロッパ南部、アフリカ、中東、インド、東南アジア、北アメリカ大陸南部に渡り越冬する。

日本では、春と秋に向かう途中の渡り鳥として通過するか、本州中央部以南に越冬する冬鳥として渡ってくる。

Osprey,ミサゴﾞ

Osprey had come fly for the first time in two weeks.

However, it went away without diving catch fish.

2週間ぶりに現れたのですが、餌の魚も獲れずに去ってゆきました。

Daurian redstart,ジョウビタキ

According to the Wikipedia Japanese descriptions,

It breeds from Tibet to the northeastern part of China, Primorsky region, and Lake Baikal, and in the non-breeding season, it will come over to Japan, South China, northern Indochina Peninsula and overwinter

In Japan, it will come over as a winter bird through nationwide, but in Korea, it is a resident bird.

This summer was a record-breaking record heat. Even it entered in December, the high temperature has lasted until these few days.

I do not know if this is due to abnormal weather, but I feel that winter migrant birds coming over in winter are a few.

チベットから中国東北部、沿海州、バイカル湖周辺で繁殖し、非繁殖期は日本、中国南部、インドシナ半島北部への渡りをおこない越冬する。日本では冬鳥として全国に渡来するが韓国では留鳥です。

この夏は記録的な暑さでした。それは12月に入っても、高温は、これらの数日まで続いています。

この異常気象によるものかどうか解りませんが、冬に渡ってくる冬鳥が少ないように感じます。
