A Oriental Reed Warbler,Ooyoshikiri,オオヨシキリ

Every spring, the English name of "Reed Warblers", which migrate to Japan, was long thought to be "Great Reed Warbler", but the other day I was researching an academic paper on the warblers of Japan and learned that it was not “Great Reed Warbler” but "Oriental Reed Warbler".

And, looking at the classification of the Acrocephalidae, the Japan name of the” Great Reed Warbler ”is Nishiooyoshikiri, also found that the name of ”Oriental Reed Warbler” is the Ooyoshikiri in Japanese.

毎年春になると日本に渡ってくる”オオヨシキリ”の英名は長い間”Great Reed Warbler”だと思っていたが、先日、日本のヨシキリに関する学術論文を調べていて、それは”Great Reed Warbler”でなく”Oriental Reed Warbler”だとわかった。

そして、ヨシキリ科の分類を見て、Great Reed Warbler の日本名はニシオオヨシキリで、また、Oriental Reed Warblerの名がオオヨシキリだとわかった。
