Wintersweet or Japanese allspice、

Around here which I have been living, when it comes late December, wintersweet shrubs are in fragrant bloom in the garden of residential neighborhoods, and parks.

Wintersweet is native to China and is said to have been brought to Japan in the Edo era in the early 17th century. It is widely planted as a garden tree in Japan.

Japanese allspice, along with Camellia sasanqua and Red plum, softens the murderous landscape of winter with few flowers.

The Japanese notation is at the bottom.
