Cattle egret,Amasagi,アマサギ

A Japanese name amasagi is said to have been named after the color of flaxseed oil which is with similar color of orange.

Also, linseed oil squeezed from flaxseed is called "amani-yu" in Japanese.

That's why, initial ama of amasagi comes from this word, but sagi means  egret in English.

アマサギという日本の名前は、オレンジ色が似ているアマニ油の色にちなんで名付けられたと言われています。

また、亜麻仁から絞られたアマニ油は、日本では「アマニユ」と呼ばれています。

ですから、amasagiの最初のamaはこの言葉に由来しますが、sagiは英語のegretを意味します。
