Hina matsuri

As described in my blog, beginning of Feb3.2016; "Japan's historical customs, habits and entertainment in the main annual event is about ten."
"Hina matsuri" is an event becoming the third from January among 10 events.

The family who having girl, display(Tiered-stand-for-dolls doll) so much dolls in their house until March 3 on the day of the Hina matsuri.         Display by Abiko-shi , Board-of-education culture and sport division
Hina maturi(March 3):the Festival of Dolls. Also called Girls'Day Festival,this is
the day on which wishes are expressed for the future happiness of girls.
A set of dolls dressed in costumes which were worn in royal court in ancient times
are displayed together with peach blossoms as decoration. A sweet drink called shirozake,brewed from rice gruel mixed with fermented rice, is partaken of on this day.  ( Quote from "The Land and Its people" Nippon Steel CorporationPersonnel Development Division in 1984")   
And
"Hina" meaning :  
Chick - Japanese female name and nickname. The country - place far from a capital. . The chick - word which shows something small. The chick - bird which has been just born."Matsuri"-festival
In the day of Edo era ,there was the family who could not buy a tiered stand for dolls.
Such a family concluded the scrap of many kimonos with a string and they hung it and made a hina
They hung the hanging hina on a shoji(like a sliding paper door,see first image,right) in the family and
wished healthy growth of their girl who love .
That is why the hung hina ornaments.
